Six Tullahoma Police officers recognized for stopping burglary

Earlier this month, the Tullahoma Police Department recognized six of its night shift officers with letters of commendation for arresting a burglary suspect.  

Tullahoma Police Chief Chase Sons presented the letters of commendation were presented to officers to Sgt. Weaver, Cpl. Hackworth, Officer McKnight, Officer Stewart, Officer Tobitt and Officer Fleming for their efforts, in coordination with Manchester Police and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office in stopping a burglary at the Citgo Gas Station & Convenience Store on Feb. 24.

“Your swift response at approximately 0231 hours, immediate perimeter establishment, and coordinated building entry reflected sound tactical awareness, officer safety discipline, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our community,” Sons said. “The rapid confirmation of the burglary, identification of the stolen ATM as the target, and clear communication among responding officers kept the investigation moving decisively and without delay.”

Sons praised specifically Fleming’s proactive efforts in locating the suspect vehicle, and Weaver’s sharp attention to the evidentiary value of taillight debris, highlighting their actions as a testament to the kind of communication and scene management that makes the difference in a fast-moving investigation.

“The felony traffic stop that followed was conducted safely, professionally, and in close coordination with our partnering agencies—resulting in the recovery of the stolen ATM and the apprehension of a suspect wanted on multiple active warrants who was also on parole at the time of the offense,” Sons said.

Sons continued and said the teamwork displayed reflected the highest standards of law enforcement service, and their actions directly contributed to the swift resolution of the crime, the recovery of stolen property and the removal of a repeat offender from the streets.

“Each of you should take pride in what you accomplished,” Sons said. “The professionalism and dedication you showed brings great credit upon yourselves, the Tullahoma Police Department, the Manchester Police Department, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Nights like this are a reminder of why the work you do matters — and why the citizens of this community are fortunate to have you serving them.”

City officials also praised the officers and congratulated them on a job well done.

“Thank you for your dedication to service to the City of Tullahoma, and thank you to our sister agencies in Manchester and Coffee County,” city officials said.
