While SpaceX launches are common, the Tuesday, Oct. 13 launch from Cape Canaveral had early risers looking to the skies as the Falcon 9 rocket bearing a robotic Dragon capsule created a celestial wonder that lit up social media from the East Coast all the way to Middle Tennessee.

Tennesseans urged to follow fire prevention best practices during wildfire season
Beginning Oct. 15, Tennesseans must obtain a free burn permit before burning leaves or natural debris or conducting prescribed burns. As wildfire season begins, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) encourages residents and visitors to observe National Fire Prevention Week by practicing fire prevention and exercising extra caution when burning outdoors. Tennessee averages about 1,000 wildfires each year, burning approximately 18,000 acres.

Bridge closes on SR 127 in Coffee
Drivers traveling on SR 127 in Coffee County should be aware of upcoming roadway activities that will impact traffic. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will close the bridge on State Route 127 (Hillsboro Viola Road) at LM 9.76 in Coffee County beginning Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, to allow contract crews to perform a full bridge replacement.
