What started as one young boy’s desire to help homeless animals continues to grow into one of Tullahoma’s sweetest summer traditions.

Calum “Cal” Henderson hosted his annual lemonade stand on June 27, raising $623.52 for the Tullahoma Animal Shelter. The event drew a steady stream of supporters throughout the day, with neighbors, friends and community members stopping by to enjoy a cold glass of lemonade and homemade cookies while contributing to a worthy cause.

As in years past, Cal was joined by his cousin, Ivanka Goldberg of New Jersey who travels to Tennessee with her grandparents each summer and looks forward to participating in the lemonade stand every year. This year, Cal’s good friend and neighbor, Apollo Holley, also came to help. The three young volunteers, along with support from their grandmothers Janet Goldberg and Susan Eckles worked together throughout the day, helping make the event one of the most successful fundraisers to date.

Customers had the opportunity to purchase lemonade and make additional donations, with many choosing to give extra after learning about the fundraiser’s mission. By the end of the day, the stand had raised $623.52, all of which will benefit the shelter and its animals. Cal and Ivanka went to US Bank with their funds and were thrilled to receive a cashier’s check to present to the city.

The annual lemonade stand has become a familiar sight each summer and continues to build on a tradition of community service that has earned support from generous residents across Tullahoma.
