Faith Lutheran Church holds Barbie benefit sale

It’s going to be a Barbie world at Faith Lutheran Church as the church will be holding a Barbies benefit sale on Saturday, July 25.

The benefit sale will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church, located at 101 Bragg Circle in Tullahoma, where more than 100 collectable Barbies will be sold. The funds will be used to benefit the Faith Lutheran Child Care & Preschool.

The Barbies in the sale are from the 1990s and were donated to Faith Lutheran Church with the hope that they would bring a smile to a child’s face, according to Faith Lutheran Church representatives. It was decided by the leadership that having a sale with all of the proceeds being given to the ongoing ministry of Faith Lutheran Child Care & Preschool would meet these goals. The donor of the Barbies, who asked to be anonymous, attends Faith Lutheran Church and said the donation was a chance to bring joy to children.

“Bringing joy to a child is my goal,” the donor of the Barbies said. “I want to benefit the kids and the church.”

Each doll was researched to determine its year of release and relative value. The data-based systems used were eBay, Mercari, and Etsy. Only a few of the collectable dolls are without a box, as most are identified as NRFB, or Never Removed from Box. The Danbury and Ashton Drake collections are offered with their Certification of Authenticity.

“Come put a smile on a child’s face and benefit the preschool at the same time,” church organizers said.
