Slow dance with the moon this Thursday as South Jackson Performing Arts Center opens the dance floor for the annual Midsummer Night’s Swing Ice Cream Social.

The annual event is set to take place on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. on the Patio Stage at South Jackson, located at 404 S. Jackson St. Admission, which includes one free ice cream, to the event is $10 for adults, $5 for children between the ages 6-12 and children under 5 years of age are free.

“Our Midsummer Night’s Swing Ice Cream Social is one of those special events that reminds us what South Jackson is all about: bringing people together,” SJPAC Executive Director Greg Gressel said. “It’s an evening of music, laughter, and neighbors simply enjoying time together. And, of course, ice cream. We’re proud to provide a place where our community can gather, connect, make memories and bring the entire family for a great night under the stars.”

Prior to the event, those who have thought that they couldn’t dance will have the chance to participate in the dancing class that will take place at 6 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and to enjoy the evening of music, dancing and ice cream. In the event of rain, the Midsummer Night Swing will be moved to Sept. 24.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting SouthJackson.org or calling 931-455-5321.
