In what has become a Tullahoma tradition for nearly a decade, South Jackson Performing Arts Center will host its ninth annual Oktoberfest this weekend.

The event will be a full day of German traditions, food and good times on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the performing arts center’s grounds and Patio Stage, located at 404 S. Jackson St. in Tullahoma.

The day will feature a variety of activities and competitions for attendees to enjoy. These include live German and polka music, food trucks and Germaninspired food, local vendors and shopping, a whiskey tasting and plenty of friendly competition. These competitions include a stein-hoisting competition, a brateating contest, a corn hole tournament, a yodeling contest and more.

During the event, attendees can go into the auditorium to watch college football as the Auburn Tigers take on the Tennessee Volunteers as part of Oktoberfest’s SEC Football Watch Party.

While there will be plenty of fun and activities for adults, families will find plenty to enjoy in the Kids Zone, which will have inflatables, games, pumpkin decorating and other kid-friendly activities.

“Whether guests come for the football, food, music or friendly competition, Oktoberfest will offer plenty of ways to enjoy a fall Saturday with family and friends while supporting South Jackson Performing Arts Center,” South Jackson officials said.

Officials added that Oktoberfest will take place rain or shine.

“Bring your raincoat, wear comfortable shoes and come celebrate with us,” SJPAC officials said in a statement. “We are preparing to move as much as possible under tents or inside South Jackson. Food trucks and vendors will remain open as conditions safely allow.”

If severe weather moves through, Oktoberfest may be put on pause temporarily for everyone’s safety. Organizers will provide updates on South Jackson’s Facebook page.

“A little rain may make the day feel even more authentic and memorable,” SJPAC officials said. “We hope you’ll join us!”
