Roberts said towards the end of vow renewal ceremony. “You have kept your promises and today you renew them out of a lifetime of devotion to one another. 75 years strong and still a reflection of God’s fateful love.”

Since their children Blair and Bill live in Memphis and Knoxville, respectively, the family was able to get together earlier in March to celebrate the milestone anniversary. According to Brookdale Tullahoma Marketing Manager Cheryl Dalton, when the Brookdale staff found out the anniversary was actually on March 30, they quickly gathered and planned out the celebration. Along with the surprise of renewing their vows, Bill and Charlotte were treated with a special homemade Italian meal, an anniversary cake and a special gift keepsake.

As for Bill and Charlotte, when asked what was their secret, they said it was their faith.

“We’re both Christians and I think there’s love that our Lord has given us,” Bill said. “We have been fortunate to have his son give his life for us.”

He added when it came to Charlotte, “This is a woman that led me to Christ.”

Charlotte said that they both have given 95% to each other, but the two had a slight difference on who gave the 95%, “He’s given 95% to me, and I’ve given five,” Charlotte said.

“That’s not so,” Bill quipped to Charlotte. “You have given 95% and I’ve given five.”

Bill and Charlotte were happy to celebrate their anniversary with not only with each other and their family, but also with the residents and staff at Brookdale Tullahoma as they are family too.

“Each and every one of them are lovable,” Bill said. “I can’t understand why the whole world doesn’t understand that.”
