Lawmen open fire on drug suspect

A Michigan man was not a smooth criminal this past month after he rammed a law enforcement vehicle, prompting officers to open fire as he tried to beat it on foot.
The suspect, Michael Jackson, 23, is charged with possession of drugs, three counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting stop and evading arrest.
He was arrested after lawmen arrived at a residence on Resaca Run in Beechgrove to serve a search warrant. Investigators say Jackson was sitting in a vehicle and was told to get out. However, instead of obeying the commands, he hit the gas and rammed the patrol car with the Dodge Ram he was driving.
“This aggressive and dangerous action put the investigators in fear of bodily harm,” the warrant reads.
The truck was able to bull its way past the patrol car and then headed toward investigators who opened fire, disabling the vehicle.
Jackson fled the vehicle on foot but was caught a short time later. A search of the truck revealed bags of a crystal substance and marijuana.
