Partin, Adams win election

Chad Partin was reelected for another term as Coffee County Sheriff, staving off challenges from Danny Ferrell and Kelly Smith in the Republican Primary. Meanwhile, Kelsie Adams was able to unseat Jenny Anthony for the Circuit Court Clerk’s office, while incumbent County Mayor Dennis Hunt beat Republican challenger Cheryl Swan but will still face opposition from Democrat Khamai M. Rozier and Independent Mark Messick in August.
In the race for the Tullahoma City Schools Board of Education, incumbents Teresa Lawson, Gigi Robison and Andy Whitt were reelected to office, while Sherrie Cleveland was able to grab the fourth seat, beating out Cathy Manis.
In the race for County Clerk, which will replace the retiring Teresa McFadden, Donna Spaulding defeated Jenna Amacher in the GOP primary, but she will still have to face Independent Chasity Dawn Harris in the August election to determine who wins office. Spaulding garnered 3,541 votes while Amacher netted 2,435 votes.
In the race for Register of Deeds, Donna Toney fended off challenger Kara Wimberley in the Republican Primary but will face opposition from Democrat Debbie Williams in August.
In the sheriff’s race, Partin was returned for a third term as there are no challengers waiting in the August General Election. Partin won in a landslide with 3,473 votes in the GOP primary. Danny Ferrell was second with 1,678 votes, while Kelly Smith had 1,321 votes.
“I am very appreciative of my win. My staff and employees along with all my supporters put me where I am,” Partin said of his reelection. “I have been involved with many elections but this one has a different tone. I have been amazed at some other elected officials and their open involvement with some of the races that concern me and the narrative that they got behind. Afraid of some difficult days ahead. Newly elected officials should be mindful of what they face and the possibility of being a victim themselves. Congratulations welcome to the party. Keyboard warriors are not voters but cowboy cowards.”
Kelsie Adams ascended to the circuit court clerk’s office with 3,493 votes to 2,798 for incumbent Jenny Anthony. Like Partin, there are no challengers waiting in the wings in August, so barring a writein candidate, she will win office.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled that the people of Coffee County chose me as their next Circuit Court Clerk in the Republican Primary election,” Adams said after winning the race. “This campaign was never just about winning an election for me. It was about service, accountability, and restoring confidence in an office that serves people during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives. Defeating an incumbent was not an easy task, and I do not take this victory lightly.
As a fourth-generation Coffee Countian, social worker, child support enforcement specialist, and former juvenile probation officer, I have spent the last 18 years working in the trenches of our justice system. That experience has shaped who I am and how I plan to lead. I understand that behind every file and every court date is a real person and a real family.
Throughout this campaign, I promised to bring professionalism, organization, transparency, and strong leadership to the clerk’s office. I intend to keep those promises. I also remain committed to supporting Family Treatment Court and programs that help families battling addiction and recovery.
I want the people of Coffee County to know that I will work hard every single day to build an office that employees are proud to work in and that the public can trust and depend on.
To every volunteer, supporter, friend, and family member who believed in me and stood beside me throughout this journey — thank you. I am deeply grateful for your trust, your prayers, and your support.
I cannot wait to get to work for Coffee County on September 1.”
Incumbent Dennis Hunt defeated Cheryl Swann 3,692 to 2,738 to gain the Republican nomination going into the August election.
The four seats for the Tullahoma School Board have been decided, barring a successful writein campaign in August. Newcomer Sherrie Cleveland got the most votes with 1,015. Andy Witt was second with 976, while Teresa Lawson was third with 972. Gigi Robison was fourth with 937. Cathy Manis was eliminated with 785 votes.
