Tullahoma sisters raise funds for veterans

Cassidy and Dakoda Haney, two dedicated sisters from Tullahoma, are making a meaningful impact for the nation’s veterans through a heartfelt fundraising effort. By crafting and selling beaded bracelets and gathering donations, the girls have raised a total of $361 to support veterans in their community.
As daughters of a disabled veteran and members of Girl Scout Troop 365 in Tullahoma, these girls understand the importance of helping their community, especially veterans in need. They recently embarked on a family trip to Sevierville to attend the 10th Annual Tennessee Grand Design Rally. The girls brought along Girl Scout cookies, pre-made bracelets, and additional beading supplies.
The girls set up a table to showcase their handcrafted bracelets and Girl Scout cookies, as well as walked around the campground with their wagon. In total, they sold $241 in one-of-a-kind pieces, even completing some custom orders. Girl Scout Troop 365 is donating $1 per box of Girl Scout cookies sold at the rally as part of the Gift of Caring program for a total of $75.
On Monday, May 18, Cassidy and Dakoda presented the $361 they raised to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1893 in Estill Springs. Their efforts highlight the power of simple acts of kindness and community spirit in honoring and supporting those who have served the country.
“Through their commitment and creativity, Cassidy and Dakoda Haney exemplify the values of compassion and service, inspiring others to contribute to causes that matter,” VFW officials said. “Their initiative not only benefits veterans but also strengthens community bonds and shows the positive impact youth can have.”
