A tractor trailer crashed and overturned near the 109 mile marker on Interstate 24 over the weekend after a near-miss with another 18-wheeler.

The wreck happened Sunday, July 11 at 9:13 a.m. and involved a 2024 Volvo tractor trailer driven by Javarious Baker of Louisiana and a 2019 Freightliner tractor trailer driver by Nobert Pierre of Florida. According to investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, both vehicles were heading the same direction and Pierre was coming up on the left rear of the Volvo when Baker made an unsafe lane change. The move caused the Florida trucker to take evasive action but in doing so he left the roadway and his truck overturned, spilling his load.

Baker was cited for violation of due care and making an improper lane change. He escaped injury but Pierre was injured when his truck rolled.
