Bobby Joe Burton, 77

Bobby Joe Burton, 77, of Sparta passed away on Thursday April 2, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 4, 1948 in Lynchburg to the late Hugh Bobby Burton and Virgie Mae Burton. Bobby and his wife attended Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Shayron Burton who he always put first and spoiled her as much as he could. Showing his deep love through thoughtful gestures and making sure she felt cherished every single day of their life together. He was a proud father of his sons Scott and Liz Burton, and Tommy Burton. His grandchildren Haven (Ben) Lofts, Hallee Burton, Zackary (Hannah) Randolph, Hope Burton, Titan Burton, and Mazie Burton. His great grandchildren Ellie and Grayson Randolph, Lakelyn Burton, and Addilyne Louise Lofts. Bobby is also survived by his best friend and twin brother Billy Burton and wife Barbara; Sister Diana Long and husband Vernon.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Burton.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Bobby Joe served his country honorably as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. His dedication and leadership during his military service reflected the same strong character and sense of duty he carried throughout his days.
Bobby Joe dedicated 50 years to the air freight trucking industry, where he mastered every aspect of the business. He served as operations manager for Accelerated Express and loved his job with all his heart, pouring his passion, knowledge, and commitment into his work every day.
He was a man of many passions outside of work. He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours dove hunting, deer hunting and enjoyed time on the lake. His passion was watching Nascar racing and football. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with family, by the pool, grilling out, sharing stories, laughter, and great food. He always enjoyed a great game of poker, where he was quick witted and highly competitive.
Funeral services for Bobby Burton will be held Saturday April 11, 2026 at noon in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Maston Jackson and Fabron Nicholson Officiating. Interment will follow in the Saylors Cemetery.

Bobby Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His service to our country and family, his adventurous spirit, his warm presence, his lifelong devotion to his wife, and his passion for his work leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have shared life with him.
