Regarding the Tullahoma Senior Center

To the board of aldermen and Tullahoma citizens: As Tullahoma citizens for 42 years and former members of the Senior Center for 20 years, before a decision is reached as to its future, please give those of us who no longer feel welcome an opportunity to share our concerns.

The building was built FOR the use of seniors! We have many great memories of time spent there. One of our favorites is the “Senior Prom” the Key Club hosted for us each spring, The question to be asked is WHY did the center go from being open five days a week plus some evenings with up to 100 seniors involved in a variety of activities in all the rooms, to being open three and a half days a week for about 25 while the rest of us feel unwelcome or have been banned entirely in writing from attending?

Manchester, Winchester, and Shelbyville, along with most towns in the US, have active, welcoming senior centers. Having a welcoming senior center is an asset to our community. Again, before a decision is reached that it will no longer be the senior center operating as it used to be, we request an opportunity to share our side of what happened and that you take a serious look at the whole picture.
