Postseason loading: THS baseball closing out regularseason strong

Tullahoma senior, Brycen Campbell, steps in for an at-bat.
The Tullahoma High School Baseball team has one last regular-season game remaining. They will take on Sequatchie County High School on Monday, April 27. The Wildcats come into the matchup winning three of their last four games.
Franklin County
The Wildcats maintained their second-place standing in their district with a two-game sweep over the thirdplace team in their district, Franklin County. Tullahoma won the two matchups 7-3 and 3-0.
In game one, the Wildcats were able to come from behind and get the victory. In the top of the first inning, the opposing Rebels got on the board, scoring two runs. Past that point, the Wildcats’ defense shut them down. Helping greatly was the pitching of Xander Pogue. He pitched innings four through seven and allowed just four hits, and had three strikeouts. During his time on the mound, he also did not allow a run.
Offensively, THS took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning by putting up five runs. The Wildcats had four hits and two walks in the frame. The main damage on the scoreboard came from a bases-clearing triple from Pogue. It brought the score from a 2-1 Franklin County lead, following a bases-loaded walk from freshman Price Harden, to a 4-2 Wildcats’ advantage. The final run of the inning came from a line drive RBI single to right field from senior Addian Evans.
Tullahoma went on to score one run in both the fifth and sixth innings, as they cruised to a win in game one over the Rebels.
In game two, the elite pitching from THS continued. On the mound in the contest was arguably the best pitcher for THS in the 2026 season, Ben Quick. He pitched six of the seven innings against FC, allowed six hits, zero runs, and logged 10 strikeouts. Senior JD Schmisseur closed out the game in the seventh on the mound for THS, striking out one and holding Franklin County to another zero, to stamp a shutout win for Tullahoma.
The 3-0 win over Franklin County was the sixth shutout victory the Wildcats have had in 2026.
The two main offensive performers in game two for THS were Quick and senior Brycen Campbell. Quick went 2-3 and had two RBIs. Campbell went 1-3 from the plate and had one RBI.
Boyd Buchanan and Community
The Wildcats, after their series sweep against FC, took on a tough out-of-district opponent, Boyd Buchanan. The squad from Chattanooga dealt THS their 13th loss of the season, defeating the Wildcats 10-1. Tullahoma quickly rebounded from the loss, getting a 3-1 win on senior night in their latest game against Community High School.
The Wildcats scored all of their runs within the first three innings against Community. The production came from an RBI single in the first from Schmisseur, an RBI single in the second from Harden, and an RBI groundout in the third from Schmisseur.
The Wildcats, in allowing just one run, had five different pitchers contribute to Community’s low-scoring total: Pogue, Schmisseur, Campbell, senior Phillip Lemmon, and junior Jonas Roper. The five pitchers allowed just three hits and had a total of seven strikeouts. Roper had three strikeouts, Campbell had two, and Lemmon and Pogue both had one.
