Test Pilots get revenge on Flyin’ Frogs and Longhunters

The Tullahoma Test Pilots, after logging two losses earlier in the season against the Cookeville Flyin’ Frogs, bounced back and won against them in their most recent matchup 11-10. They also added a win against the Gallatin Longhunters, whom they lost to in their previous matchup. They won the most recent meeting against them 10-0.

Flyin’ Frogs

The Test Pilots in the high-scoring contest against Cookeville overcame an 8-3 deficit. They paved their way back into the game directly after the Flyin’ Frogs extended their advantage from 4-3 to the five-run advantage by scoring four runs in the top of the fifth. Tullahoma matched that production by scoring in four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Helping with the following run scoring were a number of Test Pilots players.

In the fifth, Tullahoma had a total of four hits: Cash Keene, Tyson Copley, Jayron Morris, and Jaxon Sheffield. Morris had one of two extra-base hits by the Test Pilots in the fifth, and one of two hits that had an RBI attached. He hit a double to center field that brought in two runs.

The momentum the Test Pilots picked up in the fifth continued through the remainder of the game, as they scored a run in each of the remaining four frames. They went on to have their highest scoring inning of the contest in the seventh, where they scored six runs. They had a total of six hits in the frame, with three of them being RBI hits. These knocks were produced by Ryan De La Maza, Addian Evans, and Andrew Monson.

The two standout performers in the Test Pilots’ win against the Flyin’ Frogs were De La Maza and Sheffield. They both went 3-5 in the game, with De La Maza logging three RBIs and Sheffield generating one.

Although there was a total of 26 runs put up, Tullahoma got some good production in spurts from its pitchers. Monson pitched two innings and allowed just one hit, and had four strikeouts. Riley Roberts pitched one inning, allowed one hit, no runs, and had one strikeout.

Long Hunters

On the mound for the Test Pilots to start the outing in their 10-0 win against the Longhunters was former Wildcat Baylan Tuten. He set the tone for Tullahoma. He pitched a total of five innings, allowed just two hits, and had six strikeouts. Copley came in for him in the sixth and pitched three innings, also allowing no runs, two hits, and then went on to throw six strikeouts. The tandem of Test Pilots’ pitchers showed the range they have as a team. They can rely on their offense to step up for them to get wins, but at times their pitching becomes so elite that they can turn to them to get a W.

The 10-0 win for Tullahoma was their first official shutout of the 2026 season.

The Test Pilots’ offense for the second game in a row had 10 or more hits and 10 or more runs. They had contributions up and down the lineup, with De La Maza’s versatile skillset highlighting their win. He had two hits, both of which were doubles, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Finishing the game against Gallatin with the most RBIs for Tullahoma was Morris. He went 1-4 from the plate and had a total of four RBIs. The three other Tullahoma players who had RBIs were Tanner Tallent, Axel Dysholm, and Keene.

The Test Pilots, now on a two-game winning streak, will look to continue their winning ways in their next matchup on June 23 against the Longhunters at home. Fans who are planning to go to the game or see the Test Pilots in action at some point during the week should pay attention to the weather radar. The weekly forecast calls for rain almost every single day.
