Brother’s Keeper – Teen charged for charging football field

A 16-year-old Marshall County girl faces assault charges after she ran onto the football field and tackled an opposing player this past week, reportedly claiming the player had been picking on her brother during the game.
The incident, which was captured on video, happened in the game between South Middle School and Cornersville in Franklin County. The video shows a play ending and then the girl emerging from the side lines as the teams readied to huddle, running in full stride before laying out the player. The girl was restrained by referees and the player she blind-sided did not seem worse for wear.
The stadium was emptied to prevent any further disturbance and the game ended. The girl was released to her parents but has since been hit with juvenile petitions.
As result of her actions, the girl has been banned from Franklin County facilities for life and the TSSAA has banned her from all Cornersville games for the rest of the season.
