Quit coming into agreement with the devil. Yep, I said it. I know you may be thinking that you have never come into agreement with anything the enemy has said or done, but it is much easier to do than you may think. I am sure if the devil himself walked up to you with a written contract for you to sign you wouldn’t do it, but what happens when that contract isn’t in black in white but in the thoughts of your mind and the fears in your heart?

Coming into agreement with the lies of the enemy is his most sly way of trying to steal your peace and your faith. The enemy looks to be the sound of reason in the midst of suffering, chaos and confusion. He tries to create a play by play of the “what if’s” and “now what’s” when our carnal minds are being consumed with fear, sadness, mourning or depression. The enemy knows when we our spirits are weak because we often times say it from our own mouths and he instantly preys on that moment. Friend, it is imperative in this season that you do not come into agreement with the lies he is spewing! You don’t have to come into agreement with the sickness, the heartbreak, the depression, the financial burdens, the failure or the pain. In this season, you stand with confidence and declare God’s faithfulness, healing, restoration and merciful abounding love.

When we are experiencing difficult times in our lives (because they come) – loss of a loved one you prayed to be healed, a broken marriage, a child who has lost their way, an addiction you can’t break free from, a childhood trauma that haunts you…. whatever it is, you must know that the devil is ready to take advantage of the pain. He doesn’t always introduce himself as our adversary, in fact, sometimes the things being said to you can come from familiar voices who are being used to fulfill his plan. Sometimes that whisper may also sound like our own voice reconciling the hurt and planting ideas of destruction ahead. There has never been a more vital time than now to start capturing those thoughts that do not align with the will of God.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:5. Because we are gifted with free will, it is your job to decide if you are willing to accept or deny that message in your mind. Think of your brain as an email inbox – you can often determine if an email is spam by it’s title.

When the enemy sends you an email that’s title causes fear, confusion or doubt you must immediately delete and return to sender. Our faithful Father is not the author of confusion or fear as stated in 1 Corinthians 14:32, “ For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

I will admit that checking our mental emails and discerning these thoughts does take practice and intimate time with God and His Word. To rightly discern the truth from the lies you must first have the truth within you – the truth is what begins to set you free from the bondage of this contract you have signed. The devil does not play fair, he is the slimy salesman salivating with an evil smirk as he hands you the pen that will ultimately send your life into a tailspin. One lie turns into two, two lies turns into three and before long you have narrated a seemingly realistic storyline in your head that can be fatal to your growth in Christ. I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but that lie that you signed over can be dismantled today!

You have the authority to speak life over your situation and begin a healing process that debunks the enemy’s ruthless scheme and will breathe air into your lungs again. That unholy agreement is no match for our Father who ultimately wrote the storyline for your beautiful life before that first breath you have seemed to lost along the way was even taken.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19.
