AEDC at 75: Eight days after acceptance, J-5 roared to life
The J-4 Rocket Engine Test Facility was dedicated in 1964, which was described at the time as the world’s largest rocket altitude test cell. J-4 provided the capability to test large rocket propulsion systems under simulated altitude conditions, expanding Arnold Engineering Development Center’s ability to support advancing missile and space missions.
