Hope Koehler takes the stage this Sunday

South Jackson Performing Arts Center will welcome Hope Koehler to its stage as she presents “Love Around the World” this Sunday, May 17.
Speaking with The News, Koehler said attendees will experience various singing pieces from various countries and languages, like English, Italian, French and German, all of which have to do with love. The show will feature pieces from Strauss, Schumann, Ellington and other spirituals.
“Just a whole bunch of different styles and languages, and it’ll just be a lot of fun,” Koehler said.
Also, part of the show will be performances from her husband, William Koehler, Tom and Lisa Maurer and Alexa Thompson, who’s been off in Italy for study.
“It’s kind of nice to be able to be involved with the community, as well as having this opportunity to sing for people,” Koehler said. “I’m excited about that.”
Koehler is a classically trained singer who has sung in concerts and opera in many countries. She currently performs with the American Spiritual Ensemble, a group of performers whose mission is to keep the American Negro Spiritual alive.
“It’s a group that is composed of people like me who are professional opera singers, and who want to be sure that this great music is heard and appreciated and sung by everyone,” Koehler said. “Because while it started out in a dark time in our history, it is now the foundation, actually, of all of our musical genres in this country. Being able to sing them is a privilege.”
Koehler said this performance will be her first proper show in Tullahoma, which she and her family moved to in 2024, and she is excited to be part of the community.
“I’m excited to be part of the community and to get to know people better, and for them to know who I am,” she said. “So that’s probably the most exciting part.”
Show time will be at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase at southjackson.org or by calling the box office at 931-455-5321.
