Lady Wildcats score double-digit runs for sixth time in 2026

The Tullahoma High School softball team split its two most recent games. They won against Central Magnet 13–2 and lost to Giles County 2-0. They are now 6-6 on the season and second in their district standings, with a 2-2 record.

The Lady Wildcats’ hot start to the 2026 season started to fade a bit. Before their matchup against Central Magnet, they were on a three-game losing streak.  Their offense, which scored 38 runs in their first three games of the season, only scored 9 runs in the following losing stretch. That is certainly part of the game of softball. Numbers go up and down, but the Lady Wildcats’ offense, which has shown up more times than not this season, was back on an up against Central, as they generated 13 runs.

Helping them get back to scoring a plethora of runs was essentially every ‘Cat player that stepped up to the plate. THS had 13 hits, and seven out of the eight players who had an at-bat were responsible for one of them.

The Lady Wildcats scored in every inning, with their highest scoring frame coming in the bottom of the fourth. In the frame, THS scored four runs and had a total of four hits. Starting the hit party in the fourth for THS was sophomore Avanley Metcalf, who struck a leadoff double. Tullahoma went on to log two outs after scoring in one run from an Anzley Holloway sacrifice fly, before the Lady Wildcats’ offense rallied, getting three straight singles. The following hits came from sophomore Julianna Ites, sophomore Kayleigh Campbell, and senior Amaya Sharp.

Campbell’s single was a hard grounder hit to right field that resulted in two of Tullahoma’s players getting across home plate. The last run in the inning was from an error by Central Magnet.

Tullahoma, following their win, took on Giles County High School on Tuesday, March 24. The Lady Wildcats, after letting up two runs in the first inning, shut down the opposing Lady Bobcats’ offensive production. Sharp was on the mound for Tullahoma, and from innings two through six, she allowed zero runs, three hits, and had three strikeouts. Despite the high-level defense from the Cats, they could never get their offense rolling, getting only two hits on the night and logging their first zero-run outing of the season.
