UTSI confers service awards
The University of Tennessee Space Institute recently held its annual Service Awards Celebration to recognize faculty and staff who reached an employment milestone in the previous calendar year. Specialty awards were also presented. In addition, the Student Government Association, the Employee Relations Committee, and recent graduates were acknowledged at this year’s celebration. Mayes joins Baker and Cole
Alan Mayes has joined Baker and Cole Realty. Mayes has lived in Tullahoma for over two decades, along with his wife Deborah, a retired high school teacher. He’s a board member of the Historic Preservation Society of Tullahoma and a member of the Coffee County Historical Society, and a lifetime member of Nashville’s Lane Motor Museum. His professional memberships include the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, and Tennessee Association of Realtors. Alan served as an engineer at General Motors for many years, and also owned a franchised motorcycle dealership. Most recently, he retired from the automotive publishing business as vice-president, managing editor, and advertising manager of two custom car magazines. He is the author of five non-fiction books and has contributed to several more, in addition to having freelanced for several vintage vehicle magazines. He was inducted into the National Hot Rod & Custom Car Hall of Fame in 2018 in the Journalist and Photographer category.

Jack donates to Habitat for Humanity
Highland Rim Habitat for Humanity, a local nonprofit in the area, received a $1,500 donation recently from Jack Daniels. Since 1866, Jack Daniels has been giving back to the surrounding communities from where they are nestled. Because of their generosity, Highland Rim Habitat for Humanity will continue to help families in need of home repairs to the building of a new home. The Tullahoma Police Department will conduct Multi-Agency Sobriety Checkpoint(s) on Friday, May 29, as part of the Tennessee Highway Safety Office’s (THSO) Click It or Ticket Campaign.


City pays honor to police
The Tullahoma Board of Mayor and Aldermen honored Tullahoma Police as part of National Police Week, recalling those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty – a sacrifice made by five Tullahoma policemen during the city’s history.

Vape stores put on notice
Local stores that sell vapes and CBD have been put on notice that law enforcement will be checking up on them to ensure they are not selling to minors.

Following the installation of temporary lights at the Cedar Lane/William Northern Boulevard intersection, the Tullahoma Utilities Authority (TUA) Board has approved the purchase and installation of new traffic signals.
