Resident talks to board about construction noise

The sounds of progress are a bit much for one Tullahoma resident who approached the board of mayor and aldermen to ask them to consider updating the noise ordinance when it comes to construction.

Joel Tuck of Old Shelbyville Highway in Tullahoma alerted the board about construction noise from building sites near his house that he believes should fall under the noise ordinance.

“You don’t want to hear that noise after seven o’clock at night or on Sundays and this has been going on for a while,” he said as he asked the board to look at the existing regulations and perhaps work with the planning commission to come up with actual times and dates that are allowable for construction to commence and end.

“I’m sure that will be too late before the development is finished behind us but seeing the growth in Tullahoma, I’d like the board of mayor and aldermen to get something in place for the future,” he said. “There’s a lot of growth going on here and a lot of things that are being built in existing neighborhoods. That’s fine as it fills in a lot of holes and gaps.”

Tuck went on to say it is “wide open” when it comes to times when construction noise is going on.
