Brandon Champion has revealed his run for the Tullahoma aldermanic council. His announcement reads in full:

“Native to Coffee County, Brandon lives with his wife and four children in this wonderful city.

I believe in a transparent government where officials work in the best interest of the citizens they represent. I want to put people over politics and set aside the differences that labels have created in our society. We should be focusing on a community first mindset with an emphasis on smart growth and responsible spending.

I have a few concerns that I believe the city should look in to. On top of major repairs needed for them, most of the sidewalks in town are not ADA compliant and pose a heightened risk to the citizens who must use them for transportation. My family had direct experience with this difficulty when my father in law, who had cerebral palsy, flipped his wheelchair a couple of times and in general had immense challenges navigating the streets of our community with a disability.

There also needs to be better access for bicycle travel on roads that conflict with motor vehicle routes and I’d spend time on the board pushing for incremental changes to improve this situation for the two-wheeled enthusiasts of our city.

Our parks are also in need of revitalization for our children and that would be a big focus of mine if I’m elected to serve this community.

As an Eagle Scout, I’ve been taught that we should be helping all people whenever we can. I’ve personally witnessed individuals that struggle with keeping a roof over their head so I believe that our homeless population deserves to have care all year, not just during winter. Exploring the creation of a shelter that provides a place to sleep and job/skill training will help our often forgotten neighbors get another chance at life.

I would be honored to represent this city and humbly ask for your support during this election.”
