Those living out by the Tullahoma Municipal Airport may have recently seen some planes flying lower than usual, but have no fear, as those planes are helping farmers with the next crop.

According to city officials in a statement, an agricultural aerial seeding operation is basing out of the Tullahoma Airport through the weekend. The seeding operation is helping local farms and farmers with the coming harvests and seeding cover crops in preparation for fall.

“These planes fly very low and can give the impression of an aircraft in distress. Don’t be alarmed,” city officials said. “These highly skilled pilots are trained to fly this low and very experienced in this type of operation. We hope all of our farms and farmers out there have a successful harvest season!”

City officials advised if residents see just a low-flying aircraft, they don’t need to call it in. However, in the rare and unfortunate event if they truly see an aircraft go down accompanied by smoke plumes or fire, they are to call 911 immediately.
