Trading Views

It is summertime and so many of you have probably planned a vacation- are you counting down the days? As our family prepares for ours it got me thinking about what a difference the view will be for only just a week. Hay bales and pastures will be traded for palm trees and blue seas, rolling hills and vegetable gardens will be traded for mountains and lush forest – there are so many changes that come when you shift geological locations. I often think back to the day that I shifted my spiritual views and fully surrendered this journey through life to the Lord. I did not know what would be ahead, the roads or scenery, but I committed to following the directional signs and began to envision the beauty that lied before me. “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

2 Corinthians 4:18. There have been many pit stops along the way that have caused me to unfix my eyes, but just as the sun over the ocean always sets, our Father will also always remain faithful. Trading views is not easy – there is luggage you must pack and unpack, there is usually always a price involved, the logistics must be organized and the sacrifice away from the norm is a certainty. Does this sound familiar in your spiritual walk? How many times have you loaded and unloaded those suitcases of baggage and dirty laundry? What did you have to give up or let go of to get where you are today? Did God require you to navigate a hard season filled with uncertainty to obtain the promise? If so, you are not alone. There has never been a more important time than now to trust the process…. allowing God to move, shift, direct and trade your views of the earthly world so that you can begin to see all the has for us in the Heavenly places. “ But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

1 Peter 5:10. Our prospective on the scenery around can truly depend on the location from which you stand. If you are too close, the situation can look larger than life, but if you are too far away you may lose all the little details that weave together the solution. This week I challenge you to ask yourself these questions as God is preparing you to trade views:

How can I see things differently by reflecting on God’s word?

How can I improve my prospective today?

What does God say about the view (situation) I am staring at in my life?

May God speak to you in such a way that no matter where the spirit takes you, peace will follow. There is hope in change and there is love in surrender – I pray when you look out your window to life you continuously see God’s favor and grace staring back.

“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3.
