Tullahoma boys’ soccer drops first match of 2026

The Tullahoma boys’ soccer team lost its first game in the 11 they have played so far this season. They split their two latest outings, defeating Marshall County 2-1 and then losing to Central Magnet High School 2-0.

Marshall County

The Wildcats took on one of the teams that has struggled the most in their district on April 7, Marshall County. The opposing Tigers, before the first whistle was blown to signal the start of the match against the Wildcats, had an overall record of 2-6. With the following early-season level of play from MCHS, THS was able to find gaps and create numerous opportunities in the final third of the Tigers’ field. The constant attack of the Wildcats, especially in the first half, eventually paid off as two of their shots were able to sneak their way past Marshall County’s keeper.

The two goals in the first half and in the totality of the match for Tullahoma were scored by junior Aiden Walker and senior Jayden Sarabia.

Sarabia scored his goal after following up a wellhit shot from senior Jude Smith. Walker scored his goal off a good pass from junior Gage Allen, who set him up well to find the back of the net.

Tullahoma’s starting goalkeeper, Cole Sterling, in limiting Marshall’s offense to just one goal, also had a total of five saves in the game. The senior keeper was a huge reason that Tullahoma got the 2-1 win over Marshall, marking their second district win of the season.

Central Magnet

Central Magnet is, without a doubt, the best team the Wildcats have played thus far this season, and based on the remaining schedule for THS, they will likely be the best team they play all season. Before the matchup, they had a record of 7-2-1. A lot of their success is thanks to their talent offensively. So far in 2026, they have featured an extremely dynamic offense, scoring on average 3.1 goals per game. The following goals per game average is the second highest in Tullahoma’s district, as Central trails only Tullahoma.

The Wildcats, through the 11 games they have played, are averaging 4.5 goals per contest. They, unfortunately, against Central Magnet could not get their offense going despite a few promising scoring opportunities, in the shutout 2-0 loss. One of these scoring chances came from a shot by Walker. He lit up the air at Central Magnet’s home field, coming from the sound of his shot narrowly missing the back of the net as it doinked off the crossbar.

Magnet’s two goals in the contests both came in the first half. Sophomore Caden Gardner scored one, and senior Jacob Gardner laced in the other.

The Wildcats will have a couple of important matches this week, giving them two major opportunities to rebound from their loss to Magnet. They will take on Franklin County on April 14 and Giles County High School on April 16.
