Community Calendar is a service of the Tullahoma News and is free of charge for community and church announcements. Those wishing to submit an event should email their item to dsherrill@tullahomanews.com or contact Duane Sherrill at 931-455-4545 with the information. Deadline is Wednesday morning for inclusion in Sunday’s edition
and Monday morning for Wednesday’s edition. You may submit your event a month ahead of the date and reoccurring events may also be published in the community calendar.
Tullahoma Farmer’s Market back in season: The Tullahoma Farmers’ Market is back and is open on Mondays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at South Jackson Performing Arts Center on 404 S. Tullahoma Senior Citizens Center Daily Schedule: Lapidary-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9 a.m. to noon; Crochet-Mondays 11 a.m.; Line Dance-Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30 p.m.; Exercise-Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn-Thursdays 11:30 a.m. The Pool Room, TV Room, and Card Games are available during the Center’s hours of 8:30 a.m. -3 p.m. Monday through Thursday (closes at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays). Tullahoma Food Fair returns May 6: The Tullahoma Food Fair returns for the season on Wednesday, May 6, from 5 to 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at the intersection of Cedar Lane and Wilson Avenue. Stop by and see what goodies are available. They will be there every Wednesday from May thru October.
Tullahoma Art Students May Exhibit at The Celtic Cup: Stop by the Celtic Cup, located at 106 N. Anderson St., for the month of May to enjoy an art gallery by students at Tullahoma City Schools.
Shred Day at First Vision Bank May 9: First Vision Bank is hosting a free Shred Day on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at its location at 1401 N. Jackson St. Bring your sensitive documents for onsite shredding. No cost, no hassle. Stop by and protect yourself from identity theft. Items that can be shredded include office paper, old medical records/bills, old banking/credit card statements, credit cards and CDs with sensitive information. First Vision Bank will not be accepting magazines and newspapers to shred.
THP roadblock May 13: The THP will hold sobriety checkpoint May 13 at 1 p.m. at Wattendorf Memorial Highway at Decherd Highway.
Riley the Axolotl at HOSC Ribbon Cutting May 14: Join the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce as it cuts the ribbon for Riley the Axolotl at the Hands-On Science Center on Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at 101 Mitchell Blvd. Riley’s name was submitted by Nolan Hice in honor of his little brother, Riley, who passed away last year.
Hills Power Pro Ribbon Cutting May 15: Join the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce as it cuts the ribbon for Hills Power Pro on Friday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at 200 Flowertown Road in Normandy.
P.E.O. holds convention May 15-17: Members of the PEO State Chapter will gather at the Chattanooga Marriott and Convention Center for their annual convention May 15-17. They will celebrate 70 years with 60 chapters including Tullahoma in attendance. PEO is a philanthropic organization that enables women to pursue goals through scholarships and grants through their supported Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. There will be testimonials at the convention from recipients who have benefited from the scholarships. More than $462 million has been be donated to over 129,000 women since 1907.
