Duncan qualifies for multiple state events

Junior for the Tullahoma track and field team, Brindley Duncan has continued an impressive career in her third high school season. She recently competed at a sectional meet with the rest of the Wildcats’ track and field team, where she officially stamped her spot in three events for the upcoming TSSAA state meet.
Duncan’s sophomore season for the Wildcats program inserted herself in the history books of THS athletics with a record-setting time in the 800m event. She recorded the fastest time that a THS girls’ track team member has ever had in the following event. That time helped Duncan qualify for the event at state for a fifth time in a row in 2025, and with another good outing at this year’s sectional meet, she is headed to state for a sixth time in 2026 to compete in the 800m.
At sectionals in the 800m, Duncan placed third overall with a time of 2:19.68. The following time placed her within two seconds of the second-place runner from Station Camp High School, Brynn Balturshot, and the first-place runner from Liberty Creek High School, Chaiti Ainapure.
Duncan qualified for another state running event at sectionals in the 1600m coed relay.
The Wildcats coed relay team for the event was made up of Duncan, senior Sadler Duncan, junior Emerald Tillman, and senior Kayvon Johnson. The group was a dominant force at the sectional event, earning a first-place finish.
Duncan lastly showed off her versatility as an athlete, qualifying for state in the long jump. She took fourth place in the sectional event with a jump measuring in at 16-5. The athlete who took first place in the event was Kyree Maxey out of Station Camp High School, whose jump measured in at 17-10.25.
Duncan and the rest of the Wildcats, who qualified for the state meet, will compete on May 19 at the University of Tennessee.
