Dig Day on 41A draws a crowd

Over a thousand people braved the heat to be part of the inaugural Dig Day on 41A Saturday as kids were given a chance to get hands-on with big machinery with exhibits ranging from a Blackhawk helicopter and giant Tonka truck to excavators and jackhammers.

The inaugural Dig Day on 41A, presented by Christopher Equipment and the Highland Rim Kiwanis Club, will be held Saturday, offering children from the community an up-close look at some big machinery ranging from cranes and land movers to helicopters and fire department vehicles. The event is free to the public thanks to generous sponsorships by several local businesses and individuals.

‘Inherit the Wind’ presents four-day run at South Jackson

It was a landmark Tennessee legal battle playing out in a rural small town that pitted religious fundamentalist against science that feels a little on the nose for today’s political climate. On September 17-20 the South Jackson Community Playhouse will bring perform Inherit the Wind, the 1955 classic, Tennessee, courtroom drama, which examines the Scopes Monkey Trial. It will be performed at the Main Stage at South Jackson Performing Arts Center. Shows will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

City passes equal funding measure

South Jackson Performing Arts Center, the Sports Council and the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce will now receive equal funding from the city of Tullahoma after the funding measure passed in the third and final reading at the board of mayor and aldermen.
