District Attorney General Craig Northcott announced this past week the conviction of a man on multiple charges, including sexual abuse and rape of a child.

Per Northcott, on Tuesday, June 30, Harry Burt was convicted after a two-day trial of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Rape of a Child, Aggravated Sexual Battery and Incest by a Coffee County Jury. According to Northcott, Burt was convicted for his repeated sexual assaults on a family member who was under 13-years-old at the time of his crimes. 

Presiding over the trial was Judge William Lockhart, and upon his conviction, Burt’s bond was revoked, and he will remain in custody pending his sentencing hearing on Nov. 12, 2026, at 9 a.m. Burt faces 25 to 42 years in custody for his crimes.

“The victim in this case showed great courage in coming forward to ensure that justice would be served,” Northcott said. “She spoke for multiple other victims of Burt’s to protect them as well as herself from further assaults. Thank you for your bravery and steadfastness through this process.”

The State of Tennessee was represented at trial by Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Craighead, who Northcott thanked for her “tireless effort in fighting for the truth and the victim in this case.”

He also thanked Investigator Jessica Taylor of the Tullahoma Police Department, who was the lead investigator in this matter.

“Thank you also for your work to bring forward the evidence necessary to convict Burt for his awful deeds,” Northcott said.

Northcott concluded his statement by thanking the citizens who served on the jury and listened intently to the evidence in a very difficult case.

“Our justice system does not work without you,” Northcott said.
