Three Tullahoma grapplers named to All Mid-State Team

Following another extremely successful season for the Tullahoma High School wrestling program, three THS wrestlers, junior Corbin Avans, junior Kiivon Butler, and freshman CJ Weaver, were listed as a part of the Class A All Mid-State Wrestling Team.
The Wildcats in the 2025-2026 season made another two trips to Franklin to compete at both state events—duals and individuals. With every new class that comes through the Tullahoma program year by year, the energy they hold makes the following achievements the program has had this season, the expectation. That includes the class of 2029, which brought in many talented wrestlers, including the likes of Weaver.
The freshman standout for THS, Weaver, stamped himself as a wrestler that could bring home countless trophies in his time at THS, especially with his showing at the individual state tournament. He posted the best placement out of any Wildcat grappler in attendance at the event, placing third in the 113 lb. weight division. Weaver went on a tear through the consolation bracket on his way to a bronze podium placement. He won all four matches in the consolation bracket.
With all that, Weaver has had a great start to his THS wrestling career, and it will be exciting to see what he can accomplish in his sophomore season.
Avans and Butler, officially becoming upperclassmen this season, played a big role in helping set the standard for THS wrestling. They both qualified for the state individual tournament, and both had podium placements. Butler placed fourth, and Avans placed fifth.
Butler stamped that he belonged at the state stage in the first two rounds. He won both of these matches by pin, advancing one step away from a spot in the championship match.
Avans’ road to a third consecutive state finals appearance was cut in the quarterfinals. He fought hard in the following match that sent him to consolations, but came up just short, losing by a decision by a score of 3-2.
Just by seeing the intensity and work ethic of both Avans and Butler throughout the 2025-2026 season, it is clear they have more to give. They could very well be at the forefront of THS, packing their bags for a bus ride to Franklin two more times next season.
On the duals side of things, Weaver, Avans, and Butler were a part of a THS wrestling squad that dominated night in and night out. On the season, they were almost unbeatable in duals, going 312. They also won their 12th consecutive dual district title.
