Blue Monarch opens Out of the Blue

On a chilly morning on March 12, the opening of a new commercial kitchen for Out of the Blue Granola marked another major milestone for Blue Monarch, a local non-profit, which serves women in recovery and their children. After a ribbon cutting hosted by the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce, the dedication began with the history, as told by Susan Binkley, who founded the business in 2008. Three granola employees shared their journeys, and the benefactors explained why they were inspired to provide the new kitchen. Lydia Fulks, a new baker for Out of the Blue, told the crowd, “I am so proud because this is the first time I have worked a job sober after fifteen years of addiction,” which illustrated the significance of the business and its purpose.

DAR help celebrate Tennessee Tree Day

Why would anyone order 100 saplings from the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) to be delivered to South Jackson Performing Arts Center on Tennessee Tree Day? This was the big question that the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) asked as they volunteered to distribute saplings to all 35 people who ordered them. Most orders were for three or four, sometimes 20 saplings, so 100 saplings was a big mystery.

The Promise of Comfort

Beatitudes of Promise was the theme for our worship services during Lent this year. Each service focused on one of Jesus’ Beatitudes ( Matthew 5:1-12), applying them to our journey through life. As you and I celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, I couldn’t help but think of one of these statements that Jesus spoke to His disciples “then” and to us, His disciples “today.” It is the statement: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” ( Matthew 5:4) The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead changes our perspective on life, on death, and on all things. ( Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; John 20:1-9)
